In February 2012, Janice established Janice Flynn & Associates, bringing with her expertise acquired over 20 years practising and working in the field of US visa and nationality law as a lawyer and as a paralegal.
Janice started the firm to develop a practice that focuses on the well-being of the client as they proceed through what can be a very stressful process. Her experience covers a wide range of US visa and nationality matters, including both family and employment-based visas and US nationality issues including acquisition of US citizenship and renunciation and loss of citizenship issues. She has been named in the Who’s Who of Corporate Immigration lawyers every year since 2017. Janice regularly advises individuals and multinational companies on their overall U.S. immigration strategy.
Prior to establishing her own firm, Janice worked with the Hodkinson Law Group in central London for five years. She also worked in Chicago, Illinois with the Law Offices of Susan Fortino-Brown and Kempster, Keller & Lenz-Calvo in Chicago, Illinois and within the immigration department of FagelHaber LLC (now known as Thompson Coburn LLP).
Janice graduated from the John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois and was admitted to the Illinois state bar in 2004. Prior to earning her law degree, she earned a bachelor’s degree in English Literature from the University of Illinois at Chicago and studied abroad for a year at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland.
Janice places great importance on sharing and learning from her colleagues in the field and is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, International Bar Association Immigration & Nationality Law section, American Women Lawyers in London and the International Irish Business Network.
Janice is a member of the Board of Trustees for icap (Immigrant Counselling & Psychotherapy) which is a registered British charity providing high-quality counselling and psychotherapy principally to Irish immigrants.
Janice is a native Chicagoan who is a dual US and Irish citizen who has been living and working in the UK since 2005. She lives near London with her husband and their two Vizslas, Holly and Daisy and enjoys going for walks in the countryside.
Rikkilee Barrow joined Janice Flynn & Associates in April 2018. She primarily focuses on family-based matters and also works on employment-based visas such as L-1 Intra-Company Transferee, O-1 Extraordinary Ability and E Treaty visas.
Rikkilee graduated summa cum laude (with highest honours) from Northern Illinois University College of Law in May 2016 where she also received a Certificate in International Law.
She then went on to earn her LLM (Master of Laws) in Human Rights from UCL in November 2017. Prior to law school, she graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University with a Bachelor’s Degree in International Studies. She was admitted to the New York Bar in June 2017.
During law school, Rikkilee volunteered with the non-profit organization, World Relief. There she gained experience with naturalization, adjustment of status, and DACA cases. She also previously worked as a Legal-Aid Clinic Coordinator for a large homeless shelter outside of Chicago where she assisted clients with a large range of legal issues spanning from family matters to personal injury, as well as coordinated pro-bono representation. Immediately prior to joining US Visa Solutions Rikkilee worked as an Immigration Assistant providing advice to foreign students coming to the UK to pursue a higher education degree.
Rikkilee has a strong passion for anti-trafficking and continues to raise awareness for the issue of modern-day slavery. She is a twice published author; her most recent article focuses on the challenges facing victims of trafficking when they attempt to seek asylum. Rikkilee moved to the UK in the fall of 2016 and lives with her partner and their dog in East London.
Catherine Betancourt joined Janice Flynn & Associates in September 2018. She focuses on a variety of cases, ranging from corporate visas, to family-based cases, to renunciation of US citizenship.
Catherine graduated from The George Washington University Law School in 2017 and was admitted to the D.C. bar in December of that same year. In 2018, she earned a Master’s degree with Distinction in Immigration Law from Queen Mary University of London.
While in law school, Catherine worked at a variety of immigration law firms and non-profit organizations. She has experience with asylum and refugee cases and has assisted in representing clients before the Arlington, Virginia Asylum Office. She also worked for the immigration court in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where she researched complex issues of immigration law and wrote court opinions under the supervision of immigration judges. In addition to immigration law, Catherine is also interested in international law and family law.
Prior to law school, Catherine graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in International Affairs and Anthropology from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
Catherine is originally from Puerto Rico and moved to the UK in Autumn 2017, in her spare time she likes to bake and dance.
Rebekah has worked as a Legal Assistant with Janice Flynn & Associates since April 2017. She began her career with our firm after completing her Legal Secretary Diploma in Kent.
With a sincere appreciation for law particularly immigration law, Rebekah has been instrumental in the firm’s development into a highly reputable boutique US visa and nationality firm.
As a Legal Assistant, Rebekah is a key part of our firm’s success as she ensures effective management of the office continuing to give our clients a personalized experience while our firm has grown. Over the last two years, she has specialised in her greatest area of interest – family-based immigration petitions. However, whether Rebekah is working with a large company or on a family-based petition, she skilfully drafts application with great attention to detail. Rebekah is also responsible for scheduling Embassy appointments and communicating with the Embassy when necessary.
